Back in the saddle again.

It was announced today that Starbucks chairman Howard Shultz will be returning as CEO of Starbucks for the long term. This is actually good news. Shultz helped to get Starbucks started back in 1982. He wrote a  wonderful biography a few years back that I keep reading over and over. Starbucks needed this happen now;especially after McDonald's announced the implementation of automated espresso machines AND baristas into their stores this year. What, will they be called McBaristas?? SIGH

But I am hoping with Shultz back the helm, Starbucks will focus more on the customer and the "customer experience". Look what happened with Apple once Steven Jobs came back to run things. Stay tuned.

Here's a link to the article in case anyone is interested.

Here is an open letter to the employees he sent out today too:

Like I'm EVER going to go to a store with a clown on it for good coffee. I prefer getting my coffee from a mermaid with stars in her hair. Duh!

That I am Brian. That I am.

:D

I just got a travel mug from the company I work for... and I can't wait to use it tomorrow at Starbucks! It's like my two favorite things merging into one! If I could use the mug to read LJ somehow it would be the best morning ever!

I don't know how to copyright a phrase. I'm not Donald Trump or Paris Hilton. You can use it for free and I promise I won't sue.

Sure you do not want to make that a skinny mocha, 4 times a day? And still keep that girlish figure? :P

I've never had one! But regular coffee with skim milk and one sugar is even better!

I actually like the flavor of the sugar free mocha. Actually not bad. Plus your method I am sure is MUCH cheaper too. :P

You can be like me and buy the low fat blueberry muffin and just pop the top off and eat that. :)I know, then you be tempted to eat the other half. That's why you bring along someone else to share it with. Awwhhhh...

Oh, and I guess I haven't gone there enough to know.....what is the "Starbucks experience"? I've been there a few times, everyone was nice and all, I got a cup of joe, sat down and drank it....nice furniture and music. That was **it** (?)

Yeah it's true.

Most people do.

(It's the only way world peace can ever really be achieved. If everyone was like me then there'd be no time for violence what with all the coffee drinking and Buffy watching.)

Re: Check it out...
My dear amigos....I get that they are good to their employees! I am saying, aren't I, as a customer supposed to experience something like entering the pearly gates and walking on clouds when I go in there? (I can't think of a better allegory right now)
